Past Poetry

*These are poems I found on my oldest computer that I had written for school assignments when I was younger. It was such a blast from the past I decided to type them up.*

As I Hold
My lifeless Son,
I search to find an answer,
But the answer is not important,
If you don't ask the right question,
Or understand the reason
Why it happened.

The Capture of a Criminal

Isn't it stupid
The fighting never stops
The terrorists never did
Get captured by the cops.
Sadam is now on trial
For all the chaos he has cost
So many deaths on file
So many family members lost.
So why are we still there
Even though we should be through
How many more wars will we have to bear
Until America pays it's due?

Hating love

Roses are the love that was true
Black is the lose of respect for you
Diamonds were the trust we had
Rust symbolizes the lies that were bad
Honey was the sweetness you shared
Rice is how much you really cared
Teddy bears are the lonely hugs
Dragons are the careless shrugs
Phone were our connection through
the dial tone is what I got from you.

Tears of love

A black night in the pouring rain
Waiting for a midnight train
A broken heart, a lonely tear
A beautiful child seen standing there
The child looks to the light
A shadow of a man in the night
A person, an old memory
A Chance to dream
to actually be
To run away from all he would do
She wants to love him like she used to.

Lifestyles of Teens

Almost everyone has experienced this lifestyle
Only one time can be too much
For someone's problems can become hostile
A nasty habit and such
Done out of pressure and joy
Then forgotten until one day
You find you are just a toy
The time to reject is waiting and you have a say
The intimacy has been lost
An overpowering emptiness
A choice with a valuable cost
A child conceived in selfishness.

Nature by me

A place quiet and alone
A dock where brilliance is shown
Where my thoughts run wild
Of the memories of a free spirited child.
A lake where laughter is often found
Where the reminder of his delightful sound
Is heard in a whisper, drifting like a boat
Never to sink, always to float.
A thoughtful memory when he used to be
The strongest, smartest man in history to me
The time when he was always around
My family was there and can be found.
A beautiful sunset I'll always see
Where my place of dreams will always be.

A Breath of Life

My life has been a long, hard journey for me
Why the journey began so harshly, I have never known
My spirit that once enjoyed is now unhappily shown
The stage of life begins to play out my tragedy.
Will I ever be blinded so I may not see
The graceful bird begin to fall where once had flown
The weeds that take a rose garden's once beautiful throne
To take the beauty into darkness where it shouldn't be.
My life once full of little weeds of tangling fear
Now sad things formed later into a much happier scene
The stage is played out roughly, only two people can hear
The feelings the were hidden within that weren't serene
The play is not over, there is more to be cast
Maybe it will be happier, not mistaken for the past.

The Thing About Love

Love is but a stupid thing
She's waiting for the phone to ring
He's dressing up for their first date
She's hoping that he won't be late.
They don't get very far
Before he stops and he parks the car
She realizes that he's lied
Now there is nowhere to run and hide.
The next day at their school
She looks like the ultimate fool
So the lesson of this selfish bit
What's love got to do with it?
Love at such a young age
Can literally trap you in a cage
Especially when the boys you date
Aren't really all that great.

-Jessica on dating the wrong boy with the wrong intentions.
